We have had her for a little over a week. So far no shedding, no leaking, and she is still alive. I love her and she brings so much joy, color, and character to our family room. Now I just need to find the perfect 'shoe' or container for her...
Any tips on keeping this new pet happy & healthy? Mel xo

I have wanted one all year and haven't taken the plunge yet. She looks perfect in your family room. What would you think about a big, Belgian basket for her 'shoe'?

Does she have a name? I could see a rattan basket or a brass cache-pot for her...
pretty room~

dying for a fiddle leaf fig "tree" but not sure I have enough light
I have one too and it's the EASIEST plant ever to take care of. I bought a Clementine at the same time and it's already half dead...the fig, on the other hand, is looking fabulous with so little effort on my part- ADORE them!!!!
I've had my fiddle leaf for about 5 years now (in a copper planter like this:http://www.target.com/p/Smith-Hawken-Round-Planter-Copper-18/-/A-12936220#?lnk=sc_qi_detaillink)
and am buying a fig-friend for him today! Easy to care for- dont overwater, rotate the pot to get even sun, and feed with fertilizer (ie Shultz liquid plant food) once a month or so. Dust the leaves lightly with a soft cotton cloth. Fiddle leafs can get temperamental when you move them around, so don't be surprised if you get a few brown leaves or spots in the first few weeks or months!
enjoy! she looks lovely.
You have just reminded me that I need to get one for my house! Have always love these. I already have a seagrass basket from Wisteria to put it in, now I just need the plant. I guess I worked backwards on this project! Looks great by the window as I hear they like the light.
That is the only kind of "pet" I would have in my house :0! I don't have much of a green thumb, but I've been known to keep a few plants alive!
Beautiful! Congratulations on the new addition to the family! Good luck... Happy St. Patty's Day... thanks for sharing and hope you have a lovely weekend! Jalon
I have been planning on getting myself a new addition to the family too. AND it's name is Fig, also. Good taste, girlfriend!
I ordered 2 figs and am still waiting for them, lucky you! How about an antique cast iron cauldron? The black would pick up on your fireplace details and ground the corner. Whatever you do, it will look gorgeous:)
ps. just noticed your black windows!!! Go black!
I bought one too and use the Jardinier pot system since I am sometimes gone a lot...it works great so far--read about it here...
