Hood-less kitchen

Many times when I am design a kitchen the hood detail tends to take center stage and is the focal point of the space. With Altadore II underway the detailed design has begun and I have decided to make the kitchen still awesomeballs but more streamlined in one way...with no HEY LOOK AT ME hood detail. Here are some fab examples of what I refer to as the hood-less kitchen...

While there will not be a big dramatic hood I know the stove area will still be stunning. The kitchen will have elements of marble, Caesarstone, dark grey & off white cabinets (maybe black, haven't decided yet), along with injections of wood...it is going to be a showstopper. Here are a few elements that I have confirmed for the space. You'll notice similar tones to Altadore I but it will be less industrial & more traditional...

I have 2 weeks to nail down all of the selections and materials so stay tuned for more peeks into this one! Oh, and Hillhurst final images coming to you Wednesday, be sure to pop back over and see our latest project! Mel xo

Let the light in...

I have started the design process with our architect for Altadore III (yep, 3 amazing homes inner-city!). Since this home is on a corner lot I want to take advantage of the side yard with windows galore. The kitchen is quite large for a home that is just over 2400 Sq. Ft. so I thought it would be the perfect time to incorporate a kitchen design with windows on each side of the range & hood-fan. Here are some brilliant examples below.

Love the build-out that is wrapped in white subways and must remember to incorporate fun lights in this space.

Really enjoying this kitchen...but where does that hood fan go? Oh, it just stops. Wish they would have carried it up to the ceiling and incorporated it into the design.

Note to the Hubs: I want a skylight like that at some point in my life...in some home, somewhere, somehow.

This kitchen is so warm and inviting. from the timbers to the dark wood and beautiful herringbone backsplash, love!

This is the kitchen in my Hawaiian dream home, so glad they got this one right...now, do I get an ocean view from those windows??

The thing I like most about this layout are the additional cabinets on each side of the hood. I find that is where I keep all of my oils, spices, and other items I use frequently. This is a possibility.

We should have the plans back by Friday and I am so excited. With Altadore I & II underway I am having a lot of fun creating 3 fun and unique spaces...more on all of them to come! Mel xo

Montgomery: The Photos

Hello all and happy Monday! I am so excited to share with you the images from our Montgomery project. At this point we only have the kitchen and master bathroom to share. Once the clients get settled and welcome the new addition to the family we will be heading back for more images. Until then enjoy these...

I am just thrilled with the way this home turned out! The clients were as well, in fact she didn't want to leave the kitchen area to do the walk through...that put a great smile on my face. Enjoy your day and I look forward to sharing 2 great guest postings this week with you from 2 of my favorite bloggers. Mel xo
