Knock Knock

In honor of the train-wreck show, Real Housewives of DC (that I might enjoy) I thought I would feature a home from the DC area. Here is a cute little charmer I found in Georgetown that was built in 1941 and could be yours for a lump sum of $2,475,000.

I love the brick on this exterior, along with the foliage. But I really would love to see the home to the left with the shutters, I think that would really put the cherry on the icing.

It is a blanket of white, beautifully finished hardwood floors, and an ample amount of natural light.

The options for furniture placement in this area are endless, and I love those French doors.

While this small galley style kitchen makes me a tad claustrophobic I am impressed with the appliance selection. Kudos for the integrated refrigerator.

The 2 windows in this area are sure to make the small kitchen feel larger and not so confined.

I love that marble sink and wall mount faucet.

White & chrome, bright & airy, clean & crisp.

The use of the tile from floor to ceiling will help this room feel larger and it is just so beautiful.

This is really what sold me on the property, the backyard.

I am not one to discuss politics...but I would here!

A peaceful retreat in a big gritty city.

Now I am sure you are busy tomorrow night, but if not, be sure to watch a few seconds of the show on Bravo. It will only make you feel more sane. Mel :)

Knock Knock...

Wouldn't you just love to be able to knock on some of the doors of the beautiful homes you see in magazines or on-line?? This is one particular home that I just adore, it was featured in Elle Decor.

Symmetry & perfection, love the pop of color with the ever so fun turquoise...

The dark windows & doors through the opening are making you wonder, aren't they?

We are enjoying the heat wave here in the mid-west, even getting a bit of outside work in between the fun on the water. Hope you are staying nice and cool today. Mel :)

Appreciation for clean lines

If you already know me or are getting to know me through this site I am sure that you are aware that I am into a more traditional style. Now don't get me wrong, I greatly appreciate the lines and look of a modern/contemporary home. When working on one I tend to push myself just to prove I can spread my design wings. Below is a post of my latest inspiration for our modern homes to come.

When I saw this home by SB Architects I fell in love, it is stunning. Amazing use of space, materials, and lines. I could live in this space. I might need all new furnishings and accessories, but I am always looking for another excuse to go shopping!

The staircase in the home is a work of art. I love the open felling that it gives throughout the multiple levels of the home, and the hanging pendants with rope detailing are perfect.

Outdoor soaking tub? Yes please.

The use of Nana Walls in the home creates an almost tree house type feel to the master bedroom.

Love the chalkboard paint under the island. A space that is often overlooked gets a bit of whimsy.

Integrated appliances, of course!
