Knock Knock: Rock Lake

Amazing, right? Just wait till you see inside this beauty by LDa Architecture & Interiors.

What I love most about this home is the consistency between the exterior & interior of the home, to say it flows is an understatement.

While you couldn't ever pay me enough to have dark floors like this again I still love them. Maybe when we are not living with little ones anymore, maybe then we will consider it.

I like the detail of the sliding doors to the formal dining room, a fun way to add drama without killing the space. Also notice the windows are consistent throughout the home, making every room feel like an extension of one another.

Check out that detail on the interior doors, but what really gets me is the view from that tub!

I haven't done a black kitchen in years, in fact the last one was 6 years ago...maybe the time has come to do it again, it is quite spectacular isn't it?

Everyone needs their own DJ booth right?

 Yeah, that will do...

I know I found a lot of inspiration from this home, I hope you did as well!! Mel xo

Knock Knock: 1927 stunner

Loving this home that was originally built in 1927, it is a stunner!

I wish that I had more images to share, but this was found on a real estate website and the home is sold. With a listing price of $2.3million I can see why it didn't stay on the market. If Seattle's market is anything like Vancouver's or Calgary's that is one heck of a price.

The convex treads add so much to this space, a great way to spruce up a standard shape staircase.

This is one galley kitchen I could live with!

Even the rear exterior of this home is inviting.

Hope your weekend was filled with laughter, I know mine was thanks to a girls night, lots of belly laughs and fun was had! Mel xo

Knock Knock - Fun LA Home

Talk about some fun punches of color and funky spaces in this LA home listed for a mere $8,265,000. I guess a $1,000 a Sq. Ft. a a 'deal' in LA...makes me feel somewhat better about the price point for our market here in Calgary.
At first I see the fuchsia on the sofas, the tables, and above the fireplace but then I see the stunning ceiling.
Adore these dining room chairs. The traditional space with the molding takes on a more modern twist with the furnishings and fixtures.
Love the hood, the range, the white, but WAIT WHAT?! Over $8mil and is that an el' cheapo standard fridge that I can pick up at Lowes for under $1,500? No, wrong, plop in a Sub Zero and then we can talk.
Love the triplet beds and the triplet lights. Perfect space for little ones.
My own pool with my own cabana? Yes, please. Now can I have my own pool boy as well??
Pop of color with the lime green chairs in the study, and what about that light?! I love when every light fixture in a home was thought out and that is the case in this home.
Again, more great lighting selections and I do believe that is the coolest half hippo table I have ever seen.
Yes, I would be more than happy to host all of you here to a wonderful meal, well, once that fridge is replaced with a proper one for this price point, just saying.

I will admit that I have only been to LA once and that was to hop on a plane to get to Maui. While that was not the best experience I would love to go back and spend a few days viewing some of the amazing properties that are listed out there. Mel xo

Knock Knock - The Hamptons

I really don't need to say anything, OK, one thing. Can I borrow $7,495,000 so I can buy this home in Sagaponack? I promise to let you stay whenever you want and I will cook for you, and do your laundry, and rub your feet. Promise. See, It even comes with the adorable pool house below, and I am a sucker for oval windows.
So we might be fighting to be in this kitchen, I'll take dinner and you can prep lunch.
With the multiple seating arrangements in the large room we will be able to hang with the little ones while sipping some wine and reflect on our day by the pool.
Notice the built-in window seat, perfect spot for a nap.
Quiet a nice quest room right? I think anyone would be comfortable here.
And your bathroom, the vintage feel with the sink & light...heart it.
So remember how I told you I would do your laundry? Well, could you blame me with this as the laundry room?!
 Hello pretty.

So just let me know if you are good for the loan, or gift, I won't argue and will accpet it graciously. Maybe I should be buying lotto tickets? Hope your week is going well!! Mel xo

Knock Knock - Badgley Mischka

Back when Elle Decor featured designers Badgley Mischka's Kentucky home in 2009 I was in love. Not with just the threads they put together but now with the retreat they created in Kentucky together.

How appealing is this master room? So simple, the combination of wood, leather, linen, silver, and black.

I love the extensive white subway tile that was used in the kitchen area, and by using a darker grout it plays off of the black island and dark veining in the counter tops.

As a lover of cookbooks I can appreciate a wonderful display of culinary excellence.

Dining Room? No, this is the library, and my idea of a library, the table in the center ready for a gathering.

While the black walls are strong and masculine the gold & crystal details make it welcoming to all, but a bottle of champagne is always welcoming in my books.

This space is wonderful, perfect for a cup of coffee in the morning, maybe a game of cards in the evening, the perfect spot to connect with someone special.

The sofas by Restoration Hardware make this room achievable to most, it is the Hermès blanket (oh, I will have one, one day I hope) that is the cherry on top.

You can never go wrong with antlers, never.

Having a stable this lovely would make me more than happy to clean up some horse poo...even crappy jobs are better in beautiful environments.

The image of the tack room makes me want to know more about this sport, maybe the thought of having to have beautiful ridding boots helps.

Hoping for green grass surrounding us soon, warm thoughts Melissa, warm thoughts. Mel xo

Knock Knock - Notre Dame Apartment

A dear friend and her family are off traveling around Paris right now for a short time, and yes, while we just got back from Maui, my tan is fading and I am already day dreaming of a European trip. Wouldn't this amazing apartment in Notre Dame be an amazing place to call home while visiting?

I would love to travel with another couple or two, pick up some amazing fresh produce at the local market and create a feast for us to enjoy on this patio.

Oh, and don't forget the wine...many bottles would be consumed here.

This looks like the perfect spot to unwind after a long day of walking the streets and possibly too much shopping.

The beams, stone wall, hardwood floor...the love pillow says it all.

It looks like all of the finishing details were thought of, from the bright fresh flowers to the fun chandelier over the dining table.

And the perfect place to soak my tiered feet after a long day of exploring the museums, and possibly a boutique or two.

Anyone want to join me?? Mel xo
