Sneak Peek: Laundry Room

I am almost done with this space so I thought I would share a couple of images with all of you. As I say all the time, every.single.room in your home is special and deserves to be amazing. I still have a long way to go but I am so happy with the progress so far, so without further ado, my laundry room...

I headed out to Ikea a couple of weeks ago and picked up 10 of the white Ribba frames, the perfect addition to the space. It allows me to be surrounded by my boys while I seem to do endless amounts of laundry.

And of course, my Visual Comfort touch in this room, 3 of the Simple Scallop Pendants in soft silver. I wanted something fun and whimsical and this was the perfect addition. The other circle on the ceiling is my speaker so I can have a little dance party while I am folding & ironing, love that!

So that is a space I spend a lot of time in, just a warning, I will be sharing this again once I am done DONE with it and we have it photographed. There are a few fun things I designed into the room...but you will just have to wait to see those. Mel xo

I will love doing laundry here...

Can I tell you how thrilled I am with my selections for our next laundry room?

Here is the beyond amazing tile I am wanting to use for the floor. It is compiled of slices of white & green marble, it my friends, is amazing. Now with the hefty price of $75 Sq. Ft. (yes yes, ridiculous I know) I am having our supplier source out some other options that have the same look and colors.

With this I am thinking of a few options for the countertop, a laminate of some sort, may it be green or that awesome pearly white on the right?? I am leaning towards the one on the right, it is called White Pearl Wood by Arborite and it is oh so pretty.

Here is one flooring alternate that we have found so far, this one is the same material but there would be grout between all of the tiles, something I might be able to live with since this beauty is only $45 Sq. Ft.

Crisp white cabinet are a must, I want an airy feel. Simple and shaker style. And speaking of shaker style, I am already starting to charm our finisher into giving me some shaker style wainscoting in the laundry room, you know, as a house warming gift of course!

The lighting, hummm, I did have this little number in mind, but that might will have to change with the cost of the floor tile.

Possibly something along the lines of these...

My sister-in-law thought I was crazy for being so excited about our next laundry room, but she is coming around and now dreams of her own pretty space one day. It is a room that I do spend a good amount of time in, so I might as well be surrounded by beautiful things, right? Mel xo

Laundry room ideas...

So my post for the laundry room has me obsessed with our next laundry room. It should be inspiring and it should be fun! Rob thinks I am completely out to lunch but I tend to disagree. Our home is not only a showpiece for future clients but it is where we live and love. Every area deserves a special touch. Here are some items that I am thinking about for the next inspired laundry room...

Wallpaper from Ballard. I love the green and it adds a great pop that is not overwhelming.

Or maybe this one...

All of the cabinetry will be white, either a shaker or bead board style door and possibly a small cornice. I would love to add a bead board paneling as well in that area but I think I might be pushing my luck with that idea.

I know I am going to struggle most with the flooring, so I will leave that until I find something that grabs me when I start narrowing down my interior selections.

One of the things I am really excited about for the space is the large window I have planed for the room. Right now the only natural light source in our laundry room is a small skylight and it does nothing. Bright natural light and all of the beautiful items I am finding may make me addicted to doing laundry.

Don't over look it...

Am I wrong to love beautiful laundry rooms? I do spend a good amount on time in mine, with only 2 boys and a husband I still manage to do at least one load of laundry a day. Granted, that is not a massive amount of time, but I still like to be in a nice space while I am doing something I do not enjoy.

While trying to find images for this post I was surprised by the lack of beautiful spaces, but I did manage to find a few, so here they are...

The colors are great in this laundry room. I will admit that it is not the most practical and also overly staged, yet there is still something nice about it.

It is the hardwood and solid surface that is selling me on this space. I mentioned hardwood in the laundry to Rob...that got shut instantly. Mr. Practical,  boo on you.

This laundry area screams pure & clean with all of the white. I just wish that there was natural light in the space.

This area is so lovely! Stunning light fixture, the simple yet colorful wallpaper, and the chicken wire door fronts. It is fun and beautiful in one space.

Here is one by Canadian interior designer Sarah Richardson. I remember this from an episode and she really did an amazing job transforming the space.

Finally, here is one from a clients home. Excuse the fish eye effect for the photo. We had fun with the small mosaic tile floor with stainless steel insets, white subway back splash, and breadboard panel doors.

I hope one of these images you find inspiring. Happy Thursday everyone!
