Construction and Design

The Ninja BL770 features a classy appearance with a stealthy black finish. Similarly, the BL780 boasts an elegant chassis finished with silver.

  • Both the Ninja BL770 and BL780 come with a large liquid jar comprising scratch-resistant BPA-free plastics
  • Both units feature a big food processor with two blades
  • We also cannot overlook the two single‐serving cups that essentially make these units a personalized blender. The cups allow you to make delicious smoothies on the go rather than creating a huge 72oz drink that would only go to waste if you’re alone.
  • The two machines feature four suction cups that prevent them from moving around or slipping off the counter during operation
  • Both blenders come with a one‐year warranty

Design Analyzed

  • It’s hard to ignore the size difference between the Ninja BL770 and BL780. The Ninja BL770 boasts a smaller footprint thanks to its lesser base, meaning that it won’t require much counter space than its BL780 counterpart. You can fit this unit anywhere thanks to its slim profile, including between your coffee maker and your toaster! However, the BL770 is much taller than the BL780, implying that fitting it into smaller cabinets could prove challenging.
  • Although both units provide the same warranty length, you can expect the BL770 to last longer, thanks to its sturdier construction. Besides, the smaller wattage on the BL780 could make the unit struggle when handling hard ingredients. The blender might stop working altogether, which implies a reduced lifespan.
  • The BL770 flaunts a lightweight design that will quickly allow you to move it between the countertop and cabinets without breaking a sweat. This cannot be said of the BL780, which weighs almost twice as much as the BL770.

Power and Performance

Both the Ninja BL770 and BL780 come with proficient engines that provide you with focused power for crushing, blending, mixing, and kneading the dough with utmost precision.

  • With either unit, you can process two pounds of dough in an instant. We can’t help but admire the handsfree operation afforded by the two blenders, which can make the most seasoned of bakers blush.
  • Thanks to two machines’ variable speed buttons, you can choose what delicacy to create for your family. Both units feature a mode for blending, crushing ice, kneading dough, creating single-serve refreshments, and pulse.
  • Both blenders come with a 72oz pitcher endowed with the Total Crushing technology, enabling the units to pulverize ice into snow. With both units, creating large batches of margarita or even resort-style sorbets is a piece of cake.

Performance Compared

  • Unlike the Ninja BL780 with a 1200W motor that produces 1.5 horsepower, the BL770 has a better 1500W engine that delivers two horsepower. The extra horsepower will afford you more efficiency when handling frozen veggies and ice.
  • Our evaluators also hold that the Ninja BL780 produces more noise when operating, which might deter you from creating a delicious smoothie early in the morning or late at night.

Advice: Neither blender can tolerate hot liquids in its pitcher. You may, however, add warm liquids into the jug.

Food Quality and Yield

When it comes to the yield and quality, we can confidently tell you that either blender is sufficient for most kitchen tasks.

  • The 72‐ounce pitcher will excel in creating healthy delicacies for a family of eight.
  • We appreciate the 8‐cup processor bowl that promises to simplify the process of mixing dough for your cookies, bread, or pizza, allowing you to create a high‐quality treat for your family within a short period.
  • The blending speed on either unit will facilitate the efficient crushing of ice into snow when looking to create large batches of frozen beverages, as well as shredding whole veggies when making soup and salsa.
  • If delicious smoothies are your thing, you will love these units thanks to their single-serve function. The units will automatically detect the complimentary 16oz personal jars and adjust their settings to achieve the correct speed.

Setup and Usability

Using both the Ninja BL770 and BL780 is very easy, thanks to the simplistic speed dials that afford you complete control over your unit. Both units have a blend, crush, dough, and single-serve speed. These settings allow you to create smoothies, make a dough, and pulverize ice and frozen ingredients in a matter of seconds.

  • The two units boast a pulse function that facilitates the effortless blending of solid ingredients.
  • Both the Ninja BL770 and BL780 come with 16oz cups with lids, which will allow you to carry a nutrient‐packed refreshment on the go.

  • The huge processor bowls on both units facilitate the effortless creation of large batches of meals. With these bowls, you can slice, chop, dice, shred, and grind bulky ingredients in an instant.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Cleaning both the Ninja BL770 and BL780 blenders is pretty easy thanks to the detachable dishwasher safe components, including the pitcher, lids, smoothie cups, and processor bowls. However, we recommend wiping down the motor base with a damp cloth; avoid dipping it into the water. With these blenders, you have the option to create small batches of food and drinks thanks to the single-serve containers. This will reduce your cleanup process significantly.

Note: You will want to exercise caution when cleaning the two blenders by hand as the blades are too sharp. Users have complained of cutting themselves when handling the units.

Our Verdict

From the precedent, it’s apparent that the two Ninja blenders on our comparison list are alike in more ways than one. Both units boast a big 64oz food processing bowl with which you can create two pounds of dough in a matter of seconds. Each blender comes with a robust 72oz liquid jug, not to mention the two 16oz smoothie cups.

Whichever blender you decide to take home, we can assure you that you can’t go wrong with any home blending system manufactured by Ninja. Nonetheless, we can’t ignore that the Ninja BL780 purports to be the refurbished version of its predecessor, yet the BL770 puts it to shame in so many ways. For instance, the BL780 has a weaker engine, bigger and heavier base, and higher noise level than its precursor.

We were astonished to find that the Ninja BL780 is more expensive. If you’re wondering whether spending the extra few bucks to purchase the Ninja BL780 is worthwhile, we think it’s a total waste of money. The better blending machine, in our informed opinion, is the Ninja BL770.

In addition to being lighter, quieter, smaller, and cheaper, this machine does everything the Ninja BL780 can do, including blending smoothies, mixing dips and salsas, and creating healthy shakes. It doesn’t make sense to spend more on a weaker, bulkier, noisier, and heavier blender. While the BL770 lacks all the bells and whistles of the more expensive blenders in the market today, it performs excellently as a medium-range unit.
